Post Oak Trail
Know No Boundaries ran in the Post Oak Trail runs held the end of February 2010 at Post Oak Lodge. The Trail Marathon was on Saturday February 27th and the Trail 50 km was on Sunday February 28th. This was out first fund raising event and although we did not raise very much, we got some visibility. PArt of the problem may have been tht we started too late and too close to the event.
The weather was perfect; started around 30 F (-1 C) and finished off around 52 F (11 C). Running in the beautiful Osage Hills of NW Oklahoma provided for some breathtaking views and a chance to commune with God and nature. Mud, rocks, roots and hills were plentiful and provided many opportunities for suffering. But then again, this is what it is all about; isn't it? In order for us to "break out" of our self set, self limiting boundaries there is usually a bit of hard work involved. Finishing time for the trail marathon was about 8:01 and considering the terrain, I was pleased. Got away with only a slight discomfort in my left knee.
I was a bit apprehensive about Sunday's Trail 50K as I was not sure how sore and stiff I would be. As luck would have it, I felt great. Started off in the cool morning again with expectations of the same beautiful weather as Saturday's. Early on in the run a family of deer stood in the open field. I believe both of us were surprised as we just looked at each other before we both headed off in our own dierction. I was again treated to a beautiful commune with God and Nature. Trail running gives one a true sense of awe about God and His creation and a some time to be introspective. One can really talk to God, reflect on our lives and pull out of ourselves what we are truly capable of. I nursed my sore knee part of the day as the downhills were harder than the up hills on them.
I ended the day feeling totally pumped about my back to back accomplishemts (and only one small blister). Finishing time for the Trail 50K was 9:44.
As for our fund raising efforts, any money raised goes to helping those in need. We will continue to push our boundaries as I expect you to as well.
God Bless You;
