This year's running of the Tulsa Urban Adventure was to help raise money for the Quinn Family from Bixby, Oklahoma. Amanda Quinn was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, but despite this, she & her husband Garrett pushed to complete their adoption of (6) siblings!
What joy to have such a blessing!
This joy was short lived as shortly after completing the adoption, Amanda learned that her cancer had returned. She & the whole family needed to uproot themselves & move to New York (actually, Garrett & the kids found a house in New Jersey where they can commute daily to the hospital where Amanda is undergoing a new treatment as a trial.
Know No Boundaries ran this year's Tulsa Urban Adventure 50 Mile Endurance Race to help the Quinn family with many of their financial needs. The race started off with PERFECT weather; cloudy with a chance of rain. There was even a teaser of mist mid morning, however once the clouds parted in the afternoon, the humidity and temperature soared! Needless to say that a combination of the hot, humid weather combined with my lack of adequate basses training (YES, training does matter), had us drop 17 miles short of our 50 mile goal with 33 miles completed.
There are no regrets, as we always run smart and not run prideful.
None-the-less, opportunities to help Amanda continue!
Know No Boundaries is running 100 km at Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd (that's 62 miles) near Tahleqhah, Oklahoma the weekend of October 19th & 20th.
BE SURE TO DONATE AS ALL DONATIONS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE QUINN FAMILY AND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
